Jakarta. Niaga.Asia – DPR Commission XII has urged continued Kuwaiti investments in Indonesia, particularly in the oil and gas sector, to mutual benefit between the two nations. The commission made this statement during a meeting with Indonesia’s ambassador to Kuwait, Lena Maryana Mukti, at the Commission XII meeting room in the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 26 June 2026. The meeting addressed efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and potential new cooperation, especially in theEnergy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sector. Commission XII Chairman Bambang Patijaya highlighted economic challenges, particularly in oil following tensions between the United States and Iran, and the need to enhance ESDM investments in Indonesia. ‘The meeting covered developments in Kuwait and updates on the Hormuz Strait, especially since the Indonesian ambassador has been in post for six months and is familiar with conditions there,’ he told Parlementaria during an interview at the Commission XII meeting room on Wednesday, 26 May 2026. He noted that Kuwait has secured two blocks and previously invested in the Natunda block, emphasising the importance of expediting Kuwait’s investments to make them more substantial and concrete. ‘KUFPEC has recently secured two blocks in South Sumatra and Sulawesi; we hope exploration commences promptly so Kuwait’s investments can boost oil production,’ added the Golkar Party politician.
