DPR Commission XI strives to prevent reduction in regional transfers to sustain development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XI Mukhamad Misbakhun has confirmed that his party is striving to ensure the amount of Transfer to Regions (TKD) funds is not reduced, as TKD is an important element for continued development. He said Commission XI, together with the Budget Agency (Banggar) and the government, is still discussing various policy formulation options related to TKD and other fiscal instruments. This step is being taken to ensure that regional development continues to run optimally while maintaining the sustainability of state finances. “We are currently still in the indicative ceiling process and will then arrange the strategy. There will be new policies,” Misbakhun said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. “We in the DPR are the institution that provides reinforcement and approval for the budget process,” he said. He acknowledged that a reduction in TKD has an impact on fiscal problems occurring in almost all regions in Indonesia, leading many regions to voice complaints. According to him, the government is indeed currently changing its fiscal policy strategy. However, he assessed that the change in fiscal strategy being carried out by the government does not necessarily reduce the rights of the regions. “The people’s right to enjoy development is also not reduced. It is just that the instruments used are central government spending or regional government spending,” he said. He noted that the TKD allocation in the 2026 State Budget (APBN) is set at Rp693 trillion. This amount is lower than the TKD budget in the 2025 APBN, which reached Rp876.9 trillion. Meanwhile, he said, the TKD budget in the 2027 APBN is planned to be better than this year, proposed in the range of Rp710 trillion to Rp810 trillion. “We must be careful in conveying this so that it does not become a political promise while the government has not yet decided. This is what we are currently formulating, how regions continue to receive their rights,” he said.
