DPR Commission XI: Prabowo to present KEM-PPKF not due to weak rupiah

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of DPR Commission XI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, assessed that President Prabowo Subianto will deliver in person the Macro Economy Framework and Key Fiscal Policy Guidelines (KEM-PPKF) at the DPR plenary session not due to the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate. He believes there is seriousness from President Prabowo to directly address the public regarding the upcoming Budget for Revenue and Expenditure (RAPBN).

“In my view, do not tie the situation of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) and rupiah depreciation to the KEM-PPKF matter,” Misbakhun said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that the rupiah exchange rate is just one aspect within the macroeconomic framework. After all, in macroeconomic assumptions, he said, there are many parameters besides the exchange rate.

“So when we discuss this, we should not focus on one or two aspects within the economic parameters because the KEM-PPKF is a very large framework,” he said.

Additionally, he said that economic uncertainty is an inevitability amid the current geopolitical situation.

However, he said that the government has a duty to anticipate that uncertainty well with policies in the economic field.

“It remains for policy makers in the finance sector, in the economy and so on to understand that this uncertainty must be managed well, including its risks, opportunities, and then the matters that must be anticipated in the short and medium terms,” he said.
