Hetifah Sjaifudian, the chair of DPR Commission X, confirmed that there is a proposal submitted by Minister for Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti for an additional budget of Rp181 trillion. She said the proposal is for the education sector, not MBG. ‘On 18 February, indeed the Ministry presented a proposal for additional expenditure totalling Rp181 trillion,’ she told reporters on Wednesday (4 March 2026). She elaborated that the additional budget would be used for the education sector. In addition, she said there is also funding for updating the dapodik database for educators. ‘The breakdown includes revitalising education units, digitalising learning, disaster relief assistance. Beyond that, there is funding for updating the dapodik, support for the management of teachers and education personnel, and others,’ she explained. She stressed the additional budget is not for MBG. MBG is the responsibility of the National Nutrition Agency. ‘So it is not for MBG, because MBG is not a Kemendikdasmen programme, but a programme of BGN (Badan Gizi Nasional), which is a partner of DPR Commission IX, not Commission X,’ he said. ‘Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti ensured that they had submitted the ABT of Rp181 trillion to the DPR. The ABT submission was stressed not for MBG. ’We have already presented the ABT to the DPR,’ Mu’ti said after a coordination meeting on MBG in Semarang, Central Java. ‘We are in a position to await a decision by the DPR.’
