The Chair of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR), Hetifah Sjaifudian, is pushing for the final round of the Four Pillars of the MPR RI 2026 Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan (Kalbar) provincial level to be held again. This suggestion was proposed after the competition drew scrutiny due to errors in the judging.

According to Hetifah, this step is important to maintain the trust of participants and the public in the event organised by the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR). “To ensure it runs fairly, we are urging that the event in West Kalimantan specifically be rerun,” said the Chair of the DPR Commission for Education, as reported from the DPR website on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

In addition, Hetifah, who is also an MPR member, expressed apologies to the participants who felt disadvantaged, particularly the students from SMAN 1 Pontianak. She hopes this incident does not diminish their interest and enthusiasm for continuing to participate in educational, national, and character-building activities.

As a corrective measure, she stated that the MPR must conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the competition’s organisation. According to her, the readiness of the committee, the judging system, and the supervision mechanisms need to be strengthened to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

The Four Pillars MPR Quiz Competition on 9 May 2026 sparked controversy because the judging panel did not provide fair assessment to two participant teams in the final round.

The incident began when three finalists—SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, SMA Negeri 1 Sambas, and SMA Negeri 1 Sanggau—competed to answer the question: ‘In selecting BPK members, the DPR must consider input from which institution?’

Team C from SMAN 1 Pontianak answered first, stating that members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives, considering input from the Regional Representative Council (DPD), and formalised by the President.

The judging panel deemed the answer insufficiently precise and awarded minus 5 points. The judge was the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR General Secretariat. The same question was then posed again to the forum, and Team B from SMAN 1 Sambas took the opportunity, answering that BPK members are selected by the DPR, considering input from the Regional Representative Council, and formalised by the President.

The judging panel ruled this answer correct and awarded SMAN 1 Sambas 10 points. This prompted protests from the participants of SMAN 1 Pontianak, who had given the same answer first.

However, the judging panel reasoned that SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak did not mention the words “input from DPD”. This was then refuted by the Team C participants. The debate went viral on social media after a clip of the judging video was reposted by users.
