The Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Gerindra Party, Abdul Wachid, has criticised the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, regarding the discourse surrounding a forensic audit of Hajj financial management.

Wachid instead reminded the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah that it has not yet been transparent regarding the detailed calculations of Hajj costs. “How many times have we given the government leeway to calculate the Hajj costs, and it is still not found? This must be closely monitored,” stated Abdul Wachid at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, as reported on Friday (2/10/2026).

He reminded that a forensic audit involves strict procedures and mechanisms, rather than being mere rhetoric. “What is a forensic audit? A forensic audit has its own rules of play. It is not just about talking about a forensic audit,” he said.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak stated that President Prabowo Subianto is encouraging a forensic audit of the Hajj financial management, which is currently managed by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH).

“The President encouraged that a forensic audit of the Hajj financial management be carried out immediately,” said Dahnil after attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, (29/9/2026).

According to him, the audit is necessary to understand the overall factual condition of the Hajj finances. The government aims to ensure the state of Hajj financial management is based on examination results rather than assumptions.
