South Tangerang City, Banten — Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is pushing for the optimal disbursement of the Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) and the strengthening of the UMKM sector, tourism, and the creative economy in South Tangerang City, which has been allocated nationally at Rp300 trillion.

“We hope that SMEs in South Tangerang can absorb the allocation that has been prepared nationally to spur growth of the national economy,” said Saleh Partaonan Daulay, chairman of Commission VII, at a DPR regional recess meeting in South Tangerang on Thursday.

Saleh noted that the South Tangerang City Government could undertake systematic data collection and recruitment of prospective KUR recipients through sub-district heads (camats) and village heads (lurahs).

SMEs are encouraged to submit financing proposals, which would then be screened and refined at the local level before being submitted to the relevant ministry and the disbursing banks.

“With a coordinated system, the incoming proposals can be more mature, and the likelihood of approval by the disbursing banks is also greater,” he said.

The KUR disbursing banks include BRI, Mandiri, BNI, BSI, and other Himbara banks. Commission VII, he added, will oversee that the process runs effectively so that the benefits are truly felt by the public.

He added that so far KUR absorption has consistently been high and often runs out before the end of the budget year. With government policies that are pro-small and medium-sized enterprises, the DPR is optimistic that KUR absorption in 2026 will remain high and more targeted.

“The presence of the government must be felt not only during political moments but when the community requires real support, especially in business capital,” he said.

South Tangerang Deputy Mayor Pilar Saga Ichsan welcomed the DPR RI’s push regarding KUR absorption for SMEs as support. Furthermore, data show that South Tangerang hosts around 105,000 UMKM and creative economy actors.

“Hopefully the synergy between the central and regional governments, including stakeholders and large companies, can be strengthened to support growth in tourism, SMEs, and the industry in Tangsel,” he said.
