DPR Commission VII: Golden Indonesia Achievable with Equitable Capital Access

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission VII Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Saleh Partaonan Daulay, stated that the Golden Indonesia 2045 mission can only be achieved if the state ensures equitable access to capital or financing for all business actors. He cautioned that state-facilitated financing should not only be enjoyed by large business players who have historically received substantial capital, while those in need struggle and find it increasingly difficult to obtain funding. “If capital and financing are not flowing, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, a situation sung about by Rhoma Irama in the ’70s and ’80s. So this is nothing new, ladies and gentlemen,” Saleh said during a working committee meeting on Financing and Capital Access with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Monday. He explained that President Prabowo Subianto has a target to open the widest possible access to capital. According to Saleh, the direction of the nation’s economy is currently being shifted from a liberal economy towards a Pancasila Economy. “It is not impossible that if this Pancasila Economy moves well, it will certainly have a broad impact on the welfare of our society,” he said. He noted that many business actors have complained to the DPR about difficulties in obtaining capital, and some only succeeded after receiving assistance from the House. This indicates that there are aspects of capital distribution that the relevant ministries have not yet properly implemented. He urged the government to convey the obstacles faced in capital distribution, whether from regulatory aspects, the condition of lenders, or the condition of business actors seeking loans. “Because every capital injection must have a broad impact on society,” he said. He also requested that the Ministry of UMKM calculate the total budget required by business actors. He suggested that the target for loan distribution should be broadened to reach more recipients. “If everyone is lent 500 million rupiah, the funds will run out quickly. But if everyone is lent just 20 million rupiah, that covers many more people. So the target recipients would be more numerous,” he said.
