Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the DPR, Syaiful Huda, has urged the government to promptly repair pothole-ridden roads ahead of Lebaran mudik 2026. He said the repairs are particularly needed on arterial roads that are frequently used by heavy vehicles.

‘We want everything that formed the Lebaran evaluation last year to become the baseline in order to determine from that evaluation what is lacking and which preparations need to be intensified, and we ask that everything be carried out as fully as possible,’ Huda said at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026).

‘In Public Works, for instance, we ask that arterial roads with potholes—because they are routinely traversed by large trucks—be anticipated and repaired properly,’ he added.

He said his side would summon the relevant ministries again after the session starts, and would check the progress of road repairs on routes used by mudik travellers.

‘We will invite them after the session begins on 9 March; we want to know what percentage of repairs has been completed on the potholes on roads to be used by the mudik traffic,’ he said.

Furthermore, Huda also asked the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the free mudik programme runs optimally. He hoped all seats provided would be filled effectively.

‘Including from the Ministry of Transport, we ask that ticket facilitation be managed to keep prices affordable or that price reductions be offered, especially for air travel,’ he said.
