DPR Commission V Ensures Construction of NTB DPRD Building Burnt in 2025 Riot Begins in 2027

Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Lasarus, has confirmed that the central government has taken over the reconstruction of all DPRD and government buildings damaged during the mass protests in August 2025. “We came here to ensure this entire process runs smoothly so that this building can be constructed quickly, as it is urgently needed by the community and the NTB DPRD,” he told reporters after leading a Commission V delegation to inspect the NTB DPRD Building in Mataram on Wednesday. He stated that the master plan for the construction of the NTB DPRD Building has been finalised, the building design is currently being drafted, and the budget for the construction has also been prepared. “Once the design is complete, we will request that the budget be proposed immediately for prompt approval by the commission. We are giving this special attention, which is why we came here, to ensure the construction is carried out as quickly as possible,” Lasarus said. According to him, to accelerate the construction process, his party has asked the Ministry of Public Works to immediately initiate an early tender process for the NTB DPRD Building, so that once the budget is available, the contract can be signed directly and construction can begin in 2027. “So, it has been ordered to proceed with an early tender first, so that when the budget is available, the contract is signed immediately, construction is ongoing, and it is completed quickly within eleven months, hopefully,” he explained. Lasarus also stressed that the building design must be completed as soon as possible, as out of the three building designs offered, the choice has been agreed upon, falling on number two, which features the NTB DPRD Building with a distinctive NTB granary architecture. “Earlier, the Chairwoman of the NTB DPRD decided to choose design number two. The design will be completed immediately, and we will strive to secure the funds and contract it directly because an early tender is possible,” Lasarus told reporters. When asked about the budget required for the construction of the new NTB DPRD building, Lasarus stated he could not provide a figure at the moment but reiterated that the budget issue has been resolved, though the exact amount needed still requires calculation. “The budget is already there, as it is a commitment. But the exact amount must be calculated first. We cannot calculate it if the design is not yet finished. The point is, the design is there, the money is there, that is enough,” he said. Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the NTB DPRD, Hj. Baiq Isvie Rupaeda, expressed her delight that all the needs for the construction of the new DPRD building are being covered by the central government through the state budget. “Yes, this is good news, that all needs will be prepared and an early tender will be conducted soon,” she said. According to her, the eleven-month deadline for the construction of the NTB DPRD Building is more than sufficient. Therefore, she hopes the construction process will run smoothly.
