DPR Commission IX Provides Three Key Notes to New National Nutrition Agency Head
The Vice Chairman of DPR Commission IX, Yahya Zaini, stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s appointment of Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is an appropriate decision aimed at improving the agency’s performance. Zaini noted that Commission IX hopes the BGN, under Nanik’s leadership, can implement various improvements, particularly as she is known for her active oversight in regional areas.
“She deeply understands the intricacies of the issues faced in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme,” Zaini said via WhatsApp on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. Despite this, he added that as a working partner of the BGN, Commission IX plays a vital role in pushing for performance improvements within the agency responsible for the MBG project.
Zaini provided three key notes for the new BGN leadership. First, the improvement of governance, specifically regarding budget utilisation. Second, the enforcement of discipline in implementing standard operating procedures; given Nanik’s background in field-based oversight, the DPR hopes discipline can be optimised. Third, the BGN must strengthen cross-sector coordination with ministries, agencies, and local governments to ensure that oversight practices are effective and measurable. “My hope is that under the new leadership of the BGN, there will be no more cases of food poisoning,” said the Golkar Party politician.
Yesterday, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi announced the appointment of Nanik S. Deyang as Head of the BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. Nanik previously served as the Deputy Head of the BGN. Prasetyo stated that the government had conducted monitoring and evaluation for approximately one and a half years. During this evaluation, the President received input from various parties, including ministries and the public as beneficiaries of the MBG project.
“Therefore, today, Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the President has decided to change the leadership of the BGN,” Prascretio said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. In addition to Dadan Hindayana, President Prabowo also decided to replace Sony Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung as Deputy Heads of the BGN with Agustina Arumsari and Major General Trenggono, respectively.
