DPR Commission III has approved Inspector General Suyudi Ario Seto as the candidate for National Police Chief to replace General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The approval was granted by acclamation during a fit and proper test meeting held at the DPR Building on Thursday (1/10/2026).

“With the completion of the unanimous approval, today’s proceedings are concluded; we will proceed directly to the plenary session,” stated the Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman.

Habiburokhman had previously requested the approval of Commission III members to approve Suyudi as the National Police Chief candidate by acclamation. This decision was made after the leadership of Commission III consulted with the heads of faction leaders, the Chairman of the MKD (Ethics Council), and the leadership of the DPR.

“Our colleagues have consulted with the faction leaders and have also received approval from the Chairman of the MKD and the DPR leadership that we should proceed directly—is it approved by acclamation?” asked Habiburocalman during the fit and proper test meeting at the DPR Building on Thursday (1/10/2026).

“Agreed,” replied the members of the DPR.

Following the approval, the meeting was closed. The DPR will next hold a plenary session to grant formal approval for the change of National Police Chief from General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to Inspector General Suyudi.

Inspector General Suyudi currently serves as the Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) of Indonesia. Previously, he served as the Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) of Banten.
