DPR Commission III Suggests Hanania Travel Commissioner Also Be Named a Suspect
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, has suggested that the police consider naming the Commissioner of Hanania Travel, who is the wife of suspect ASF (30), as a suspect as well. He argued that police need to consider this step to prevent any attempt to destroy evidence, adding that the wife is therefore also worthy of being held accountable. “If she is a commissioner, especially the wife of Farhan (the suspect), right? She is very worthy of being a suspect. Please reconsider this,” Habiburokhman said during a hearing with victims of the Hanania Travel fraud case and the police at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Thursday. He assessed that the role of the suspect’s wife, who has not yet been named a suspect or detained, is highly vulnerable to enabling communication or the destruction of documents related to the case. However, he stressed that Commission III of the DPR does not intend to intervene in the case. Meanwhile, Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanudin, stated that his party is still applying witness status to the suspect’s wife in order to trace the suspect’s assets. Nevertheless, he did not reject the suggestion made by Habiburokhman. “This is also part of our effort to trace the suspect’s assets through the individual concerned,” Iman said.
