DPR Commission III: MBG Budget Has Been Agreed and Is Now to Be Monitored
As outlined in the APBN. All factions are in agreement, Habiburokhman said in Jakarta on Wednesday, that the budget approval for the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme for 2026 had passed as it was agreed long ago, and that it now only remains to monitor its implementation to prevent any deviation. He spoke amid concerns by MPs about MBG funding. He said the budget had been jointly approved by the government and the DPR for 2025 and 2026. ‘As set out in the APBN. All factions are united,’ Habiburokhman said. He added that the value of a politician lies in standing with the people and in consistency. Do not let attitudes and words arise from a hunger for the spotlight, he cautioned. Factually, he explained that MBG’s inclusion in the education budget has strong justification, namely that MBG recipients are students who are the most important part of the education system. Moreover, he said there is no more important allocation that has been cut from MBG budgeting; what has been cut are inefficient and corruption-prone activities in the sector. ‘MBG is the best programme and very beneficial for our children,’ he said.
