The meeting was attended by Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas and representatives from the State Secretariat, Finance Ministry, and Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform at the DPR Commission III room in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 25 May 2026. Commission III agreed to form a special committee for the Police Bill. ‘Let’s agree today in this meeting to form the special committee. Do you agree?’ asked Habiburokhman during the session. Commission III members approved the proposal, with Habiburokhman appointed as the committee chair. ‘We kindly request approval for Habiburokhman as chair of the special committee,’ he added. ‘Agreed,’ responded the members. The government, represented by Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, presented five key points for the Police Bill. These include strengthening transparency, professionalism, accountability, and humanitarian principles in police operations; restructuring the deployment of active police officers in non-police positions; adjusting retirement age rules as part of professional human resource management; enhancing police education curricula with human rights, democracy, and humanitarian principles; and strengthening the National Police Commission’s institutional framework through expanded duties, transparent membership selection, and competency-based processes. ‘Mr Chairman, we apologise that today we cannot submit the DIM as our government team still needs time to consult and discuss the draft law,’ said Minister Supratman.
