DPR Commission III Approves Rp5.05 Trillion Budget Increase for BNN

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DPR Commission III has approved a proposed budget increase for the National Narcotics Board (BNN) for the year 2027, amounting to Rp5,050,055,677,000 (Rp5.05 trillion).

With this approval, the total budget ceiling for the BNN next year is projected to increase to Rp6,497,125,257,000 (Rp6.49 trillion) from the previous Rp1,447,069,580,000 (Rp1.44 trillion).

“DPR Commission III has approved the proposed additional budget along with the programmes submitted by the BNN, amounting to Rp5.05 trillion, bringing the total to Rp6.49 trillion,” stated the conclusion agreed upon during a working meeting at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the BNN Principal Secretary, Tantan Sulistyoka, explained that based on a Joint Letter from the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Development Planning, his agency had received a budget ceiling for 2027 of Rp1.44 trillion.

This ceiling represents a decrease of Rp69.55 billion, or 4.59 per cent, compared to the initial budget ceiling for the 2026 fiscal year, which reached Rp1.51 trillion. This amount was deemed insufficient to cover all of the BNN’s duties and functions.

“Given the current budget ceiling conditions, allocations to support functions such as public service spending related to rehabilitation, narcotics testing, integrated assessment services, national priority spending, as well as institutional and regular priority spending, cannot be met,” he said.

Therefore, to implement the agency’s programmes and support the ‘Asta Cita’ vision of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, the BNN has proposed an additional budget of Rp5.05 trillion.

He detailed that the additional budget is allocated for prevention at Rp157.35 billion, community empowerment at Rp112.77 billion, eradication at Rp579.27 billion, rehabilitation at Rp229.43 billion, and law and cooperation at Rp17.38 billion.

The additional budget is also allocated for supervision at Rp13.1 billion, data and information at Rp74.71 billion, human resource development at Rp17.96 billion, laboratories at Rp105.01 billion, personnel expenditure at Rp19.32 billion, operations at Rp60.67 billion, secretariat at Rp121.56 billion, and a proposed foreign loan of Rp3.54 trillion.

“All these budget proposals and operational support are essentially part of our collective effort and moral responsibility to provide the best protection for the nation’s future generations,” said Tantan.
