Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission III Habiburokhman stated that the case resulted in losses reaching Rp 41.1 billion. He mentioned that the victims of the case numbered 133 people. ‘Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives extends its appreciation to the Central Java Police, who have successfully uncovered an online fraud network operating with love scamming and pig butchering modes in the Solo Baru area, with losses reaching Rp 41.1 billion and approximately 133 victims,’ Habiburokhman said in a statement on Friday (5/6/2026). Habiburokhman stated that the uncovering of the case, which involved 83 suspects, demonstrated the National Police’s capability in tackling cybercrime. He assessed that the National Police is becoming increasingly adaptive and responsive. ‘The uncovering of 83 suspects in this case shows that the National Police, particularly the Central Java Police, is capable of working responsively and adaptively in the face of increasingly complex, organised, and even transnational cybercrime,’ he said. Habiburokhman assessed that the case must serve as a serious warning to all parties. He said that digital crime is no longer just an ordinary fraud. ‘This case must serve as a serious warning that digital crime is no longer just an ordinary fraud. The mode of building emotional relationships, exploiting public figures, and then steering victims towards fake investments is a form of crime that is systematic, manipulative, and greatly detrimental to society,’ he said. His party also urged the National Police to thoroughly investigate the case to its roots. According to him, investigators need to trace the flow of funds, uncover the intellectual actors, and the international network. ‘Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives urges the National Police to investigate this case to its roots, including tracing the flow of funds, the intellectual actors, the international network, as well as the possible involvement of other parties who facilitated the crime,’ he said. ‘There must be no safe room for digital fraud syndicates in Indonesia,’ he continued. He also asked the National Police to coordinate with PPATK, OJK, Komdigi, Immigration, and other relevant institutions. This is so that the handling of the case does not stop at enforcement. ‘But also touches on the recovery of victims’ losses, the blocking of accounts, the severing of platform access, as well as prevention so that similar cases do not recur,’ he explained. He emphasised that he would continue to support the strengthening of the National Police’s capacity in cyber law enforcement. He said the state is obligated to protect the public. ‘We urge the public to be more vigilant against investment offers that begin with personal approaches or romantic relationships on social media. Do not easily trust, do not easily send money, and immediately report if you find indications of online fraud,’ he said. ‘Law enforcement against cybercrime must be firm, professional, and in favour of the victims. Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives will continue to oversee this case so that it is handled transparently, completely, and accountably,’ he added. Previously, a model and former wife of Reza Smash member, Fabiola Elizabeth, was also arrested in the international scamming case in Solo Baru, Sukoharjo. The Central Java Police revealed that Fabiola played the role of a girlfriend if the potential victim wanted to make a video call. ‘The individual concerned was a talent playing the role of a girlfriend when the victim wanted to video call to see who they were talking to,’ said Central Java Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Artanto, on Tuesday (2/6/2026). Director of Cybercrime Commissioner Himawan stated that the victims of the syndicate were known to be from the United States. Because of this, the Central Java Police are collaborating with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate the case. ‘In this case, the perpetrators targeted United States citizens, so in the investigation process we are cooperating with the FBI and, of course, in coordination with both the International Relations Division and Bareskrim,’ said Himawan. Through the FBI, the Central Java Police hope to obtain information from the victims in the US. It is known that there were 133 victims in the case, the majority of whom are US citizens.
