DPR Commission III and Deputy Minister of Law Hold Working Committee Meeting to Discuss Police Bill Draft

The DPR Commission III held a working committee (panja) meeting concerning the revision of Law Number 2 of 2002 regarding the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (RUU Polri). The meeting focused on discussing the list of identified problems (DIM) within the Police Bill.

The meeting took place in the Commission III room of the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026). The session was led by the Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, and attended by the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej.

Habiburokhman initially proposed that the DPR and the government should first discuss the less contentious items within the DIM. Edward agreed to this proposal.

“Let us discuss the ones that do not require prolonged debate first, leaving the most intense ones for last; there is a table here, please divide them,” said Habiburokhman at the start of the working committee meeting.

However, he emphasised that all identified problems in the Police Bill would still be addressed. He noted that the current approach is to discuss the simpler articles first, reserving the most complex articles for the final stages of the discussion.

“Everything will still be discussed, but regarding which will be discussed first, we are in agreement, right? Has the Deputy Minister received this? Please hand it to the Deputy Minister and the members; this is just about which articles are discussed earlier, with the most complicated ones being addressed last,” said Habiburokhman.
