DPR Commission I: Prabowo's Outreach Holds Strategic Value

President Prabowo Subianto’s steps in actively communicating across regions, forging ties with heads of state, and engaging in outreach with former presidents during the Eid al-Fitr moment are deemed not merely ceremonial agendas. Such conduct is seen as part of a strategy to safeguard political stability while reinforcing Indonesia’s stance on the global stage.

Deputy Chairman of DPR RI Commission I, Dave Laksono, assesses this series of communications as reflecting a meaningful state gesture. In his view, the outreach with previous leaders is not just an annual tradition but also affirms the significance of continuity in national leadership. This is regarded as a foundation in preserving national unity.

“Such actions demonstrate his commitment to nurturing national unity through symbols of togetherness. Outreach with former presidents is not merely an Eid tradition but an affirmation that the continuity of national leadership is part of our strength as a nation,” he stated when contacted on Monday (23/3).

On the other hand, communication built across countries and regions also shows an open leadership approach. Dave considers this aligned with efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s diplomacy amid global dynamics.

Dave added that this gesture also conveys the message that national leadership does not stand alone but is a continuation of the experiences of previous leaders.

“This gesture can also be interpreted as a message that national leadership does not stand alone but is rooted in the traditions, experiences, and wisdom of previous leaders. Thus, President Prabowo affirms that nation-building is a collective effort across generations,” he explained.

Support for these steps, he continued, needs to be continually strengthened as part of efforts to maintain national cohesion while expanding Indonesia’s diplomatic space.

“We support every step that strengthens unity, expands diplomacy, and reinforces national values. With open communication and maintained outreach, Indonesia will be increasingly solid in facing global and domestic challenges,” Dave concluded. (H-3)
