DPR Commission I: Increase in TNI performance allowance reflects state commitment to strengthening defence
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dave Laksono, stated that the increase in performance allowances (tukin) for Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel and Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) employees reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening human resources in the defence sector. He assessed that this policy will further consolidate the professionalism of defence institutions, increase national readiness, and strengthen Indonesia’s ability to face various strategic challenges in the future.
“Commission I of the DPR RI welcomes the President’s decision to increase performance allowances for TNI personnel and Ministry of Defence employees,” Dave said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. According to him, the increase in performance allowances is also part of an effort to enhance the welfare of TNI personnel and Ministry of Defence employees. He expressed hope that improved welfare would further boost the spirit of service and professionalism of TNI personnel and Ministry of Defence employees in carrying out their duties.
Nevertheless, he noted that the improvement in welfare must go hand in hand with the strengthening of institutional capacity. Therefore, he believes the policy should be directed towards strengthening defence readiness, improving the quality of human resources, and supporting the performance of the TNI and the Ministry of Defence in executing their duties and functions optimally in accordance with the constitutional mandate. “This policy is a form of the state’s appreciation for their dedication and service in maintaining sovereignty, territorial integrity, and protecting national interests,” said Dave.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto increased the performance allowances for TNI personnel and Ministry of Defence employees through two presidential regulations after approximately eight years without an adjustment to the allowance amounts. The increase in performance allowances for personnel and employees within the TNI environment was established by President Prabowo through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 42 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowances for Employees within the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Meanwhile, the increase in performance allowances for Ministry of Defence employees was established via Presidential Regulation Number 43 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowances for Employees within the Ministry of Defence.
