DPR: Coal Corruption Law Enforcement Must Not Consider Rank
The Chairman of House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III, Habiburokhman, has urged that the law enforcement process in the alleged coal corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case should not consider a person’s rank or position. If there is strong evidence, accountability must be demanded.
“If there is indeed strong evidence, then [they] must be held accountable,” he said when asked by journalists about the alleged involvement of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Febrie Adriansyah, at the DPR Building, Central Jakarta, Thursday, 9 July 2026.
The home of Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah was previously guarded tightly by dozens of Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel. This guard was mounted following a search of the Cafe de’Clan Signature in Cipete related to the TPPU and coal corruption case by Indonesian National Police (Polri) investigators.
Habiburokhman stated that Commission III is still monitoring the developments of this case. The commission is also communicating with various parties. However, he declined to disclose the results of that communication. “There are several things we cannot convey yet because we need further confirmation,” he said.
Dozens of TNI soldiers were on guard around the home of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The luxury house on Jalan Radio, Kramat Pela, South Jakarta, was guarded by more than one TNI squad on Wednesday evening, 8 July 2026.
Febrie’s house was tightly guarded after police searched Cafe de’Clan Signatur on Jalan Cilandak Tengah, Cipete, South Jakarta, on the same day. The search was conducted by investigators from the Polri’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya).
Head of Kortastipidkor Polri, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, stated that this search was related to the TPPU and bribery case in the PT Asabri matter, as well as the coal supply corruption case that caused a blackout in Sumatra and the PT Krakatau Steel case. A total of eight locations were searched that day, including the café in Cipete and Poin Money Changer.
“We continue to carry out law enforcement efforts, currently under a joint investigation scheme in handling the corruption and money laundering cases in the legal handling process of PT Asabri and PT Krakatau Steel,” he said on Wednesday.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, requested all parties to respect the police’s legal process. According to Budi, obstructing the investigation process is contrary to Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law.
“We convey to anyone who tries to obstruct the investigation process, they can be processed under Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law,” said Budi.
According to Tempo’s records, Febrie Adriansyah also experienced a stalking incident by personnel from the Polri’s Special Detachment 88 on Sunday, 19 May 2024, at the same café when it was formerly named Gontran Cherrier. Two sources familiar with the incident recounted that Febrie was having dinner at the French restaurant at around 8:00-9:00 PM Western Indonesia Time.
