DPR Claims Progress in Corruption and Illegal Mining Crackdown Under Prabowo

The Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III, Habiburokhman, has stated that the crackdown on corruption, including illegal mining, has made significant progress under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. Speaking at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 14 August 2026, Habiburokhman noted that the progress was evident in President Prabowo’s state address before the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the DPR and Regional Representatives Council (DPD). “There has been a great deal of progress. Just now, updates were provided on the context of strategic programmes and corruption eradication,” Habiburokhman told reporters. He highlighted that the President’s speech served as an update on the development of corruption enforcement in Indonesia. “You saw for yourself the amount of asset recovery that has been carried out by law enforcers. That was the update,” he said. During the session, Habiburokhman also drew attention to President Prabowo’s directive to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, to crack down on all illegal mining activities. He stressed that any security personnel involved must also be dealt with firmly. “The two institutions were asked to investigate thoroughly, including any officials from those two institutions who may be involved in the illegal tin mining issues in Bangka Belitung,” he asserted. In his state address, President Prabowo had revealed that 1,000 illegal tin mines in Bangka Belitung were shut down at the end of 2025, questioning how such large-scale operations could have escaped the notice of the police and military.
