DPR Building Becomes Development Priority in IKN for 2026

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that the construction of the legislative complex or the DPR RI building will be one of the priorities in 2026.

In addition to the legislative complex, the Supreme Court (MA) building along with its supporting facilities will also be a development priority this year.

“This includes spatial planning and the construction of legislative and judicial office buildings, as well as supporting infrastructure, the development of vertical housing, and then the construction of accessibility and connectivity,” said Basuki during a working meeting with Commission II of the DPR on Monday (30/3/2026).

“The KIPP (Central Government Core Zone) itself is 6,600 hectares,” explained Basuki.

Other priority developments to be carried out include the construction of a social superhub economy and environmental management in IKN.

These will encompass community economic empowerment, increased investment, development of an economic superhub, and improved community welfare.

“Protection of forests and natural resources, disaster mitigation, and the development of sustainable agricultural areas to support food security in IKN,” said Basuki.

He stated that Prabowo has also shown his commitment to continuing the development of IKN, located in East Kalimantan.

“The President has from the beginning emphasised accelerating the construction process of facilities to be used for the legislative and judicial branches, with the hope that they can be completed in 2028,” said Prasetyo after attending the inauguration of Taruna Nusantara High School in Malang, East Java, on Tuesday (13/1/2026).

One of them is correcting the design and function of IKN, which is located in Penajam Paser Utara Regency.

“So earlier, there were still some things that the President provided corrections on, first regarding the design, second regarding the function,” said Prasetyo.
