Chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Agency (Banggar) DPR Said Abdullah has suggested that the Ministry of Finance extend the individual tax reporting period through the Coretax application until 30 May 2026, similar to corporate taxes. “This suggestion to extend the tax reporting for individuals is so that the government’s strategic policies can be maximised,” said Said, as quoted from Antara on Friday, 1 May 2026.

He explained that up to the end of the individual tax reporting deadline via Coretax, there are still around 3.3 million taxpayers who have not submitted their notification letters or SPT. In fact, the Ministry of Finance extended the reporting by one month from the original date of 31 March 2026.

Meanwhile, the frequent obstacles complained about by taxpayers are errors in the Coretax system. “If the system is the one that’s faulty, it’s certainly not entirely their fault,” Said stated.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance announced that the annual SPT for corporate taxpayers would be extended until 31 May 2026. This extension is an exception to the provisions in the General Provisions and Tax Procedures Law, which sets the deadline for corporate SPT reporting every 30 April.

“If the SPT for corporate taxpayers can go until 31 May 2026, I think there is no issue with extending it by a day or even a week for individual taxpayers, so that the target of achieving more than 15 million can be met to support state revenues,” said Said.

This PDI Perjuangan politician from Sumenep Regency, East Java, assessed that if taxpayer compliance decreases due to system constraints, tax revenues will also decline. “Especially since we are facing challenges in achieving this year’s tax revenue targets due to geopolitical factors impacting the domestic economic situation,” he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the Coretax reporting application that often experiences disruptions, Said Abdullah requested that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa conduct a system audit, detect weaknesses, and fix them. The aim is to prevent such incidents from recurring.
