DPR Assures All Factions, Including PDIP, Will Be Involved in Limited Election Law Talks Next Week

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the DPR will begin limited discussions on the revision of the Election Law (UU Pemilu). Dasco said PDIP will also be included in the discussions.

“Regarding the Election Law, we have agreed with the faction leaders that we will begin limited discussions,” Dasco said at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

He said the DPR has not yet had the opportunity to visit non-parliamentary parties to gather their aspirations due to a number of commitments. Dasco said that agenda will begin next week.

“Previously, due to several commitments, the visits to gather aspirations from non-parliamentary parties had not yet been carried out. So, next week they will begin,” he said.

Dasco said the move is also being made with consideration of the possibility that the selection process for KPU commissioner candidates will begin in October. Therefore, the DPR will carry out the initial stages of revising the Election Law before that process begins.

“We welcome the possibility of the KPU selection committee starting in October. So before that, we will carry out the initial processes of drafting the Election Law or revising the Election Law,” he continued.

Dasco said the DPR will hold a leadership meeting (rapim) and a session of the Consultative Body (Bamus) on Tuesday (18/8) to discuss the agenda.

“We will hold a leadership meeting and a Bamus session next Tuesday regarding that matter,” he said.

Furthermore, Dasco assured that no party will be left out of the discussions on revising the Election Law, including PDIP, which is currently outside the government.

“Actually, no one is left out in the DPR. Discussions in the DPR are transparent and open, and of course we will invite all parties, especially PDI Perjuangan, which is the largest faction in the DPR,” he said.
