DPR Asserts All Political Parties Support the Labour Bill

Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has responded to a statement by the President of the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, regarding political parties allegedly lacking partiality towards workers. Cucun refuted Andi Gani’s accusation. He stated that all political parties in the DPR are unanimous in their support for workers and the draft Labour Bill (RUU Ketenagakerjaan).

Cucun said all political parties speak with one voice in fighting for workers’ rights. “In the DPR, everyone is united, a single entity fighting together for workers, for labourers,” Cucun told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 13 August 2026.

Previously, Andi had claimed that some political parties lacked partiality towards workers. He made the statement while attending a hearing on the Labour Bill with DPR Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, Saan Mustopa, and House Commission IX. According to him, there are parties in the DPR that are not serious about discussing the bill, which is a follow-up to a Constitutional Court ruling.

“Our grand coalition is taking note of which parties are serious or not serious about discussing this law,” Andi said at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 13 August 2026. Andi indicated he would announce the names of these parties to the public in due course. He said that, to date, there is a party that does not yet have a draft of the Labour Bill, even though the bill has begun to be discussed by House Commission IX. “And we will announce to the public which parties have partiality and which have none at all, so that the people know and there are no lies between us,” Andi concluded.
