DPR Approves Nine KPI Central Members for 2026–2029 Term
The plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved nine candidates for the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI Pusat) for the 2026–2029 term, following their fit and proper test before Commission I. “Are the names just presented approved?” asked DPR Speaker Puan Maharani at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, to which all legislators attending the plenary session responded “agreed.”
Commission I Deputy Chairman Sukamta explained that the fit and proper test for KPI Central candidates was held from 13 to 15 July 2026. The commission tested 26 of the 27 candidates proposed by the Ministry of Communication and Digital. “One person, Mr Kabul Indrawan, declared his withdrawal,” he stated in his report prior to the decision.
Based on the fit and proper test results, Commission I agreed on nine names: Tulus Santoso, Andi Sukmono, Fuji Samantha, Widhie Kurniawan, Aliyah, Evri Rizqi Monarshi, Analisa, Amin Shabana, and Muhammad Hasrul Hasan. Additionally, Commission I also agreed on three interim replacement candidates for the 2026–2029 term, namely Ahmad Farikul Badi’, Sutjiati Eka Tjandrasari, and Henry Sianipar. These three names were also approved during the plenary session. Commission I urged the selected individuals to commit to carrying out the duties, functions, and authority of the KPI professionally and responsibly, to uphold morality, integrity, and independence, and to avoid irregularities and abuse of authority.
