DPR Approves Destry Damayanti as Bank Indonesia Governor for 2026-2031

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) officially appointed sole candidate Destry Damayanti as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2026-2031 period on Thursday (27/8/2026).

The approval of President Prabowo Subianto’s proposal was decided by Commission XI of the DPR after conducting a fit and proper test on Aida yesterday, Wednesday (26/8/2026).

“Commission XI of the DPR, based on deliberation to reach consensus, approves and appoints Destry Damayanti as Candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2026-2031 period,” said Chairman of Commission XI Mukhamad Misbakhun, when met by journalists on Thursday (27/8/2026).

Following the determination of the fit and proper test results, the DPR will formalise the agreement on the selection of the new BI board of governors in a Plenary Session scheduled for 1 September 2026.

Subsequently, the new BI board of governors will be inaugurated at the Supreme Court, in accordance with the presidential decree of President Prabowo Subianto, based on the results of the fit and proper test approval in the DPR.

The new BI board of governors will carry out their new mandate for the next five years. The change in the board of governors comes after Perry Warjiyo resigned from his position on 25 July 2026.
