DPR Approves 15 District/City Bills for Further Deliberation
The 22nd Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the V Session of the 2025–2026 Session Year has approved 15 bills on districts and cities to become DPR-initiated legislation, having previously been proposed by Commission II of the DPR. The approval was granted during a session at the DPR building in Jakarta on Tuesday, chaired by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, after eight party factions submitted their views on the bills in writing. The 15 bills include those concerning Kapuas Hulu Regency, Sintang Regency, Pontianak City, Mempawah Regency, Sambas Regency, Sanggau Regency, and Ketapang Regency in West Kalimantan Province. They also cover Kapuas Regency, North Barito Regency, South Barito Regency, East Kotawaringin Regency, and West Kotawaringin Regency in Central Kalimantan Province, as well as North Hulu Sungai Regency, South Hulu Sungai Regency, and Central Hulu Sungai Regency in South Kalimantan Province. Previously, Commission II Deputy Chairman Zulfikar Arse Sadikin stated that the drafting of the 15 bills was conducted in a limited and focused manner on substances agreed upon with the government. He noted that the drafting process involved meaningful public participation by engaging local governments, communities, and academics in the respective regions.
