DPR Appreciates Construction of 110 Precision Bridges in Riau

Muhammad Rahul, Chair of the Working Group for Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party faction, has expressed his appreciation to the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) for successfully completing the construction of 110 Merah Putih Presisi bridges across various regions of Riau Province. This achievement was reached after Polda Riau completed the second phase of 80 bridges ahead of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration, bringing the total number of bridges built to support access for rural communities to 110 units. As a member of the DPR representing the Riau electoral district, Rahul assessed that the programme initiated by the Riau Police Chief and the resort police ranks is a tangible form of the National Police’s dedication to the community. He noted that the presence of the police institution is not only felt in maintaining security but also in providing direct benefits to the social and economic lives of citizens. Rahul stated that replacing previously damaged and risky wooden bridges with stronger and safer steel bridges plays a crucial role in improving inter-regional connectivity. He cited the example of the Merah Putih Bridge in Dumai City, which was built over 73 days by joint personnel and successfully reduced travel time for residents by up to 15 minutes. He described the bridges not merely as physical infrastructure but as lifelines connecting children’s hopes for education, easing access to healthcare, and accelerating the economic mobility of farmers and traders in remote areas of Riau. Rahul also voiced support for the plan to have all the bridges inaugurated directly by the National Police Chief, stating that the collaboration between Polda Riau, local governments, and various community elements reflects the implementation of the Precision concept, which can serve as a model for other regional police forces.
