Kudus, Central Java (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives Commission XII Jamaludin Malik, together with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the Trade Service, and Kudus Police conducted a sudden inspection (sidak) of the availability of 3 kg LPG in Kudus Regency, Central Java. The inspections were carried out at two locations, namely a 3 kg LPG depot in Kradenan Village and on Jalan Bhakti, Burikan Village, Kota District, Kudus, on Wednesday. ‘From the two locations, there was no evidence of a shortage of 3 kg LPG,’ Jamaludin said during the sidak which was attended by Pertamina Patra Niaga Central Java Area Manager Communications, Relations, and CSR Taufiq Kurniawan, Kudus Police Chief AKBP Heru Dwi Purnomo, and Acting Head of Kudus Trade Service Eko Hari Djatmiko. According to Jamaludin, the activity was a response to many public complaints about suspected shortage of 3 kg LPG ahead of and during Ramadan. But based on on-site checks, supply was in a safe condition. He explained that increased demand occurred because of many takjil traders and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) experiencing a surge in activity during Ramadan. Initially, two cylinders per day, now could be three cylinders due to increased consumption. In addition to checking availability, the group also checked scales and selling price. From the observations, cylinder weights are within standard, and the selling price at the depot is Rp18,000 per cylinder or in line with the highest Retail Price (HET). Nevertheless, Jamaludin did not rule out the possibility of violators elsewhere, so they intend further random spot checks to ensure distribution runs normally. He also urged the capable public to refrain from buying subsidised LPG non-subsidised, so that subsidies go to those entitled. Kudus Police Chief AKBP Heru Dwi Purnomo added that supply distribution of LPG in Kudus is running smoothly and there have been no official complaints of shortage or price spikes. However, previously they had disclosed a practice of injecting gas from 3 kg cylinders into 12 kg cylinders ahead of Ramadan. That case is now at the investigation stage. Meanwhile, Taufiq Kurniawan appreciated the steps of Commission XII of the Indonesian DPR and local government officials who went directly to the field, as it demonstrates the state’s presence in ensuring energy needs of the public are met. He said Pertamina has gradually increased supply. On 17-18 February 2026, ahead of fasting and during the Imlek period, an additional around 35,000 cylinders were allocated to Kudus City beyond normal supply. Subsequently, in the first to the third week of Ramadan, another around 33,000 to 34,000 cylinders were added. ‘Supply in Kudus is relatively normal because its infrastructure is adequate. We assure stocks are safe until Eid al-Fitr,’ he said. Taufiq urged the public not to panic or hoard. He also recommended purchases be made at nearby official depots to obtain prices in line with HET. If prices are found well above HET, the public is asked not to buy to avoid price speculation. One of the owners of a 3 kg LPG depot on Jalan Bhakti Kudus, Imran Syafroni, acknowledged additional supply during Ramadan. Usually receiving around 200 cylinders per week, he now receives about 20 more cylinders. The selling price remains Rp18,000 per cylinder.
