DPR and Government Discuss Strategic Issues and Urgent Agrarian Conflicts
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, accompanied by two other leaders, namely Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal from PKB and Saan Mustopa from NasDem. Meanwhile, the government was represented by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Nusron Wahid, and several related deputy ministers. “The purpose is to discuss several strategic matters and agrarian conflicts that are very urgent to be resolved,” Dasco said while overseeing the meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (11/8). Dasco did not disclose the specific urgent issues. However, he stated that the DPR and the government must coordinate immediately because the DPR’s Special Committee on Agrarian Affairs has not been able to achieve much. “If you look at the grand design of this KPA, it will certainly take a long time. Meanwhile, the Agrarian Special Committee that the DPR has formed has also not been able to produce much,” he said. After the meeting, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo said the government had formed a cross-ministerial team to resolve a number of agrarian cases. The meeting, for example, highlighted 73,000 hectares of rice fields that are recorded as forest areas. “This is the type that can be resolved more quickly, and it is widespread,” said Pras.
