Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the DPR RI, Nihayatul Wafiroh, stated that her commission targets the completion of the draft Labour Bill before October 2026, or in accordance with the mandate of Constitutional Court Decision Number 168/PUU-XXI/2023.

“Yes, it must be completed before October, because the Constitutional Court set the deadline for October,” said Ninik, her nickname, in Jakarta, Friday.

In addition, she said the Labour Bill is targeted for completion in 2026 to support President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to labour groups on May 1, 2026, or during the commemoration of International Labour Day.

Meanwhile, she said that during the DPR RI session from 12 May to 21 July 2026, Commission IX has scheduled a number of meetings to discuss the Labour Bill.

“We will summon representatives from Apindo (Indonesian Employers Association), because Apindo is specific in several fields, and each business sector certainly has different aspirations,” she said.

She also said that Commission IX of the DPR RI will summon representatives from labour associations or unions as well as academics.

“Yesterday, we only summoned two academics. So, we will summon more academics,” she said.

The Constitutional Court gave a maximum of two years to the lawmakers to complete the new Labour Bill.

The Constitutional Court also reminded that the drafting of the bill must involve the active participation of labour unions.

Meanwhile, on May 1, 2026, Prabowo, in front of the labour masses, admitted that he had instructed the Minister of Labour and the Minister of Law and Human Rights to complete the Labour Bill together with the DPR RI.
