DPR Affirms Commitment to Support Anti-Corruption Through Asset Forfeiture Bill

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Saan Mustopa has refuted claims that the DPR is rejecting the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Saan stressed that the DPR remains committed to supporting the anti-corruption agenda, which is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision. “We need to convey that the issue circulating in the public is untrue, that the DPR is rejecting the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill,” Saan said at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday. Saan also denied reports of a clash between the government and the DPR regarding the bill’s discussion. He emphasised that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is in line with the government’s agenda. “It is still ongoing. We remain committed and we also want to strengthen the government’s commitment regarding efforts to eradicate corruption,” he stated. Saan explained that the bill is currently being discussed by the DPR’s Commission III. As part of the process, Commission III is inviting activists and students to hear their input. “To this day, the DPR continues to deliberate the Asset Forfeiture Bill, particularly in Commission III, by conducting various public hearings to gather input from various parties, especially stakeholders related to the bill,” he revealed. “For instance, yesterday Commission III held a public hearing with Peradi and others. So, once again, this Asset Forfeiture Bill is in the deliberation process at the DPR through Commission III, and it is also included in the 2026 Priority National Legislation Programme list,” he added.
