Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Christian Intelligentsia Union (DPP PIKI) is organising Pre-Congress VII PIKI 2026 as a step towards national consolidation in formulating the organisation’s strategic direction amid increasingly dynamic changes in the global and national landscape. PIKI General Chair Badikenita Sitepu, in a press statement received in Jakarta on Friday, urged all cadres not only to attend but also to make the congress a turning point for consolidating ideas and strengthening the organisation’s role. The General Chair revealed the organisation’s plans to hold an audience with the President of the Republic of Indonesia as part of efforts to strengthen PIKI’s intellectual contributions in the national policy formulation process. He also emphasised the importance of opening wider spaces for discourse in the pre-congress, including analysing the implications of global geopolitical developments on Indonesia’s position. In addition, optimising the organisation’s digital platforms is seen as crucial for expanding the reach of ideas and strengthening PIKI’s presence in the public sphere. “PIKI needs to reorganise its foundations so as not to be trapped in mere community organisation patterns, but consistently as a grand home for the intelligentsia,” stated PIKI General Secretary Audy Wuisang emphatically. He added that several aspects of concern include adjusting the organisation’s nomenclature, strengthening identity through the PIKI March introduced at the 2024 National Working Meeting, and sharpening the organisation’s positioning in the public sphere. PIKI targets that all these adjustment processes can be completed in the 2026 Congress, so that by 2027 the organisation has a more adaptive, measurable framework with clear parameters in carrying out its intellectual functions. Pre-Congress VII PIKI 2026 is expected to become a meeting point between internal consolidation and external articulation, while reaffirming PIKI’s role as part of the nation’s strategic thinking ecosystem amid increasingly complex global competition. Chair of the VII PIKI Congress Committee Benyamin Patondok assured that the entire series of pre-congress activities leading to the VII PIKI Congress on 30 April – 2 May 2026 in Jakarta will be prepared securely in accordance with national security provisions.
