Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Sultan Baktiar Najamudin has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of Tenaga Pembangunan (TP) Sriwijaya. The appointment was made by consensus during the 13th Grand Assembly (Mubes) of TP Sriwijaya held at the Redtop Hotel in Central Jakarta. TP Sriwijaya is a community organisation that brings together migrants from the Southern Sumatra region. Founded in 1968 by former members of the South Sumatra Student Army, the organisation aims to support the regional development agenda. In his remarks, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin acknowledged that there are many other prominent figures from Southern Sumatra who might be more deserving of the leadership role. Nevertheless, he accepted the mandate as a form of commitment to strengthening the vision of regional development. ‘With the support and motivation to strengthen the regional development vision, I am willing to voluntarily accept the trust of the XIII TP Sriwijaya Grand Assembly participants,’ he stated in a written release on Sunday (28/6/2026). The former Vice Governor of Bengkulu noted that since its inception, TP Sriwijaya has played a significant role in driving regional development. He called on all board members to maintain the organisation’s cohesiveness and solidarity. ‘By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I accept the appointment as Chairman of the DPP Tenaga Pembangunan Sriwijaya for the 2026-2031 period. Let us maintain the cohesiveness and solidarity of the organisation so that TP Sriwijaya can have a greater impact and become a source of pride for the people of Southern Sumatra,’ he asserted. He also mentioned that TP Sriwijaya is one of the largest community associations in Indonesia, comprising many national figures. He expressed optimism that the support, cooperation, and collaboration of the entire TP Sriwijaya family would be key assets in realising the organisation’s various agendas and work programmes. ‘We are optimistic that with the support, cooperation, and collaboration of the entire TP Sriwijaya family, God willing, every organisational agenda and work plan will be easier to realise. We share the burden, and we share the joy,’ he concluded. The XIII TP Sriwijaya Grand Assembly was attended by regional administrators from West Java, DKI Jakarta, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Bangka Belitung, as well as the DPP Srikandi TP Sriwijaya. Also present were the Chairwoman of Srikandi TP Sriwijaya Nyimas Aliyah and her board, Secretary General of the DPD RI Commissioner General of Police M. Iqbal, Chairman of the Police Reform Acceleration Team Prof. Jimly Asshiddiqie, Erwin Singajuru, Prof. Juanda, and several other prominent figures.
