DPD Speaker Says President Prabowo Has Prepared a Surprise for MPR Annual Session, Featuring Eight Special Guests

DPD RI Speaker Sultan B Najamudin has said that President Prabowo Subianto has prepared a surprise for the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, to be held at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday.

The surprise concerns eight special guests whom the President will bring to the annual session. Sultan did not reveal who the guests are, asking the public to wait and watch the session.

“Let us just wait and see, so that it remains a surprise,” Sultan said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday.

He said parliament is ready to hold the annual session. The event, he added, will begin once President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrive at the venue.

He therefore expressed hope that the President’s speech at the annual session would proceed smoothly. In welcoming Independence Day, he called on all parties to help maintain unity and integrity.

“Because I always say, and we all agree, that our greatest asset is unity,” he said.

On Friday, the MPR RI, DPR RI and DPD RI are holding the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, one of the agenda items being President Prabowo Subianto’s address for the presentation of the performance reports of state institutions and the State Address of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in conjunction with the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to the speech, the government will also screen a video on government performance achievements.

The annual session is a state agenda to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which carries the theme “A Sovereign, Just and Prosperous Indonesia”.
