DPD Speaker Says President Has Prepared a Surprise for the Annual Session

Jakarta (ANTARA) - DPD RI Speaker Sultan B Najamudin has said that President Prabowo Subianto has prepared a surprise for the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI, which will be held at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday.

The surprise concerns eight special guests who will be presented by the President during the annual session. Sultan did not reveal the identities of the guests in question, and asked the public to wait and watch the annual session.

“Let us just wait and see directly, so that it remains a surprise,” said Sultan at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday.

He said that parliament is ready to hold the annual session. The event, he said, is ready to begin once President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrive at the venue.

He therefore expressed hope that the President’s speech during the annual session would proceed smoothly. In welcoming independence day, he called on all parties to help maintain unity and integrity.

“Because I always say, and we all agree, that our greatest asset is unity,” he said.

On Friday, the MPR RI, DPR RI, and DPD RI are holding the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI, one of the agendas of which is President Prabowo Subianto’s speech for the delivery of the performance report of state institutions and the state address of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the context of the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to the speech, the government will also screen a video of the government’s performance achievements.

This annual session is a state agenda to welcome the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which carries the theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia”.
