DPD seeks revision of various laws
JAKARTA: The speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Ginandjar Kartasasmita, said laws dealing with different sectors, including forestry, ports and the environment, must be revised to make regional autonomy more effective.
He said this was one of the points agreed upon during a meeting on Wednesday between officials from the DPD, provincial administrations and provincial legislative councils.
Ginandjar said there were some 25 laws on various sectors that had to be revised in line with Law No. 32/2004 on regional autonomy.
He said the laws must be revised in cooperation with regional administrative leaders and lawmakers to accommodate input from the regions. -- Antara
