DPD proposes two laws to House
JAKARTA: Speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD)
Ginandjar Kartasasmita submitted on Friday two draft laws
initiated by the council to the Speaker of the House of
Representatives Agung Laksono.
The draft laws are on the proposal to divide Gorontalo regency
in South Sulawesi into two regencies, and on the financial and
administrative rights of state institutions.
Ginandjar said that according to the law, the DPD had the
right to provide input to the House including in the area of
legislation.
"The law stipulates that the DPD has the right to propose a
bill to the House," he said.
Agung said he would hand over the two draft laws to the House
legislation body soon to be further discussed and prepared for
the deliberation process. -- Antara
