Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Abdul Kholik, a member of the DPD RI, believes that the implementation of work-from-home (WFH) policies for civil servants (ASN) in regional areas can help improve efficiency, particularly in energy usage, without disrupting the performance of the apparatus.

“The DPD RI supports the government’s efforts to make work more effective while responding to global developments that impact us, especially in the energy sector,” said Abdul Kholik in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Thursday.

According to him, the WFH policy can be a strategic step in curbing energy consumption, in line with the increasing global challenges affecting that sector.

“The choice of day does not have to be a specific day like Friday; it could be mid-week such as Wednesday or another day deemed most appropriate by the region,” he said.

The senator from the Central Java electoral district considers this flexibility important to maintain work effectiveness, while also providing space for local governments to optimise policies according to local conditions.

“In West Java, it has already been implemented, if I’m not mistaken on Wednesdays, and in my view, there is significant savings and performance is not disrupted,” he said.

Nevertheless, he emphasised the importance of periodic evaluations of the policy to ensure its effectiveness in the regions.

“We will see what it will be like in Central Java, then we will evaluate in the next stage. If it is positive, we continue. If there are problems, we fix them,” he said.

Kholik hopes that the WFH policy can become part of the adaptive steps by local governments in facing global challenges, while also increasing energy use efficiency without reducing the quality of public services.
