DPD Deputy Speaker: Prabowo's Speech Reaffirms the Economic Architecture
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Speaker of the DPD RI, Tamsil Linrung, said that President Prabowo Subianto’s speech on the Macro Economic Framework and the Basic Policy of Fiscal Policy for the 2027 State Budget (RAPBN 2027) demonstrates the boldness of the national economic architecture. He said the boldness lies not merely in pursuing growth, but also in placing social justice and distributive equity as the central foundation of development. “Prabowo’s speech is a very clear expression of preference for the small people, the regions, and the economic ideals of Pancasila. This is not merely an annual fiscal speech; it is a declaration of the ideological direction of national development,” Linrung said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. Linrung noted that the centrist economic concept presented by President Prabowo is an important formulation amid global uncertainty and the growing inequality of the world economy. He added that Indonesia indeed needs an economic model that provides room for innovation and competition, but that the state’s role as protector of the people and guardian of distributive justice should remain. He further stated that the President is emphasising that the state should not be absent. The market must grow, the business world must develop, but the state must ensure that the fruits of development are not enjoyed only by those already powerful. “The spirit of distributive justice and the strong inclusivity that attracts the weak is the substantive core of the Pancasila economy,” he said. He said the concept provides new energy to strengthen collaboration between the state, the private sector, cooperatives, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and communities in building a more inclusive economy. “Indonesia must not be built on a logic of exclusive growth, where the economic pie is enjoyed by a small elite,” said the DPD RI Deputy Speaker for Economy and Development. “We need development that is just, especially for the regions that have long been the backbone of national resources but have not yet fully enjoyed the fruits of development proportionately,” he added. Linrung stressed that the DPD RI regards the President’s support for MSMEs, farmers, fishermen, cooperatives, and young entrepreneurs as a strategic step to strengthen regional economies. The regional economic structure is, after all, supported by people-sector activities that require cheaper and fairer access to financing. Therefore, Linrung urged the national banking sector, especially the Himbara banks, to promptly translate the President’s directions into concrete and measurable actions. “The President’s directions to state banks must be read as a constitutional mandate to deliver economic justice. State banks should not merely be business institutions pursuing profit; they must also be instruments of social development and economic equality,” he emphasised. “The President is right to say that such a situation is out of reason. MSMEs, farmers, fishermen, and young businesspeople must receive priority financing. They are the foundation of the national economy as well as the lifeblood of regional economies,” he said. Linrung also stated that the President’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship education and access to credit for the younger generation is an important step toward long-term economic transformation. “This nation must not simply produce job seekers. We must nurture a generation that creates jobs. And for that, the state must be present to open access to capital, mentoring, and the courage to grow,” he said. Linrung emphasised that the DPD RI stands ready to oversee the President’s development agenda to ensure it truly benefits the regions and narrows interregional gaps. “Regions must be the primary actors in national development. When the President speaks of prioritising the people, he is, in fact, talking about the future of Indonesia’s regions. It is there that the majority of people work, survive, and place their hopes,” he concluded. Earlier, for the first time, President Prabowo will deliver a direct speech outlining macroeconomic policy and the main fiscal policy for RAPBN 2027 at the DPR RI Session of the Fifth Year of the 2025–2026 Session.
