DPD Chairman Sultan B Najamudin has urged all parties to exercise restraint amid the escalation of global conflicts that could disrupt regional stability, particularly in countries with Muslim majorities. According to Sultan, the developing situation not only impacts geopolitical aspects but also touches on the sensitivities of the Muslim community observing the Ramadan fast ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

“We invite all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue. Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, this moment should serve as a space to return to the values of innate peace, unity, and humanity,” said Sultan in his statement on Thursday (19/3/2026).

As a country with the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia, Sultan continued, has a moral responsibility to promote the creation of global stability and peace.

“The Indonesian people are deeply concerned about the ongoing conflicts. We hope that all conflicting parties can immediately halt hostilities in any form and choose the path of peace as a shared solution,” he stressed.

The Chairman of the Board of Patrons of the Malay World Islamic World (DMDI) also highlighted that the current conflicts have an asymmetric character, not only in military aspects but also in the flow of information developing in the public sphere.

“This conflict is asymmetric, not only on the battlefield but also in the information arena. Therefore, society must be discerning—do not get trapped in biased information and hoaxes that only muddy the situation,” he stated.

Sultan reminded the public to remain wise in filtering information, especially in the digital era and artificial intelligence that enables the rapid and massive spread of disinformation.

“We must maintain clarity of thought. Do not let the public space be filled with unverified narratives that fracture unity,” he added.

Sultan also appreciated the stance of several countries that have chosen to exercise restraint and not expand the conflict as an important step towards de-escalation. “Exercising restraint is a form of maturity in maintaining global stability. This needs to be continuously encouraged as a path to peace,” he said.

Sultan invited the entire Indonesian society and Muslims worldwide to remain focused on performing worship and welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah with full calm and a spirit of brotherhood.

“Let us make Eid al-Fitr a momentum to strengthen unity, not to widen differences,” he added.
