DPD Chairman Praises Prabowo for Eid Prayer in Aceh: A Leader Who Is Present and Empathetic
DPD RI Chairman Sultan B Najamudin has praised President Prabowo Subianto for performing Eid al-Fitr 1447 H prayers in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh. Sultan stated that this reflects Prabowo’s wise stance in being present among the people who are still feeling the impact of the natural disaster.
“This is something that I personally, and on behalf of the institution, give the highest appreciation for; it is very good and becomes something positive in the midst of everything. As I mentioned earlier, the global world is in turmoil, and Indonesia’s own situation, especially Sumatra, is still feeling the impact of the recent disaster,” said Sultan B Najamudin after Eid prayers at Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026).
Sultan said that Prabowo’s presence for Eid prayers in Aceh is a manifestation of a leader who empathises with the condition of his people. It also reflects the spirit of togetherness.
“Especially in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, the President as the head of state, head of government, our leader is present there, feeling it, and then performing Eid al-Fitr prayers together with the community. That is something very good and shows spirit,” he stated.
In addition, Sultan said the most important message at this moment is to return to fitri. He invited all parties to maintain unity and harmony for the nation.
“The most important message is, first, this is called the day of fitri, returning to fitri, cleansing the heart, mind, and most importantly, at a time when the world is increasingly turbulent now, what we need most in our nation is unity and oneness, harmony,” said Sultan.
“Continue to maintain silaturahmi, ensure that all national figures and our society are united, hand in hand, so that whatever shocks occur now, our capital is solidarity, unity, and oneness,” he added.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto performed Eid al-Fitr prayers together with several ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet in Simpang Empat Upah Village, Karang Baru Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh. The community joined Prabowo in prayer at Darussalam Mosque.
Observations by detikcom on Saturday (21/3/2026) showed that Prabowo arrived at the mosque at 07:10 WIB. The community was seen lining up to form prayer rows inside and outside the mosque.
Takbir was heard being recited ahead of the Eid prayer. Prabowo and his entourage entered the front row of the prayer lines near the mosque’s pulpit.
The Eid prayer was led by Imam Tengku Junaidi, the Imam of Darussalam Mosque. Meanwhile, the sermon was delivered by Khateeb Captain Inf Zulkhaizir.
The number of prayer congregants was said to be around 1,300 people. The congregants consisted of residents of temporary shelters and the surrounding community of disaster victims.
Several cabinet members were present, namely Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, and Deputy Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prabowo and the ministers were seen wearing white koko shirts complete with peci.
