DPD Chairman: Government Committed to Fulfilling Basic Needs of Regional Communities
The Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, has said that the government of President Prabowo Subianto is committed to meeting all the basic needs of communities in every region.
The former Deputy Governor of Bengkulu made the remarks whilst handing over the Self-Financed Housing Stimulus Assistance Programme (BSPS) in Kedurang Ilir, South Bengkulu, on Monday (20/07).
“Our President, Mr Prabowo, fully understands and wishes for all the requirements for a decent life for communities in every region to be properly met. In this way, the public can participate fully in supporting national development,” Sultan told dozens of BSPS programme recipients.
Sultan stressed that the need for decent housing or shelter is a fundamental right of every citizen.
“As representatives of the regional communities, we believe the government, through the Ministry of People’s Housing, will follow up on any request submitted by the regional government, provided it meets the requirements and regulations,” he said.
Sultan, who is also Chairman of TP Sriwidjaja, added that besides fostering communal ties and absorbing the aspirations of the people, the DPD RI is tasked with directly monitoring and safeguarding the implementation of government programmes in the regions.
“There may be government programmes that have not yet been received by communities in our regions. We are obliged to ensure that government programmes are carried out on target and to the right quality,” he concluded.
In addition, during this recess visit, the former KNPI activist was also scheduled to hand over assistance for school building repairs and stationery at State Elementary School 35 in South Bengkulu.
Present on the occasion were the Regent and Deputy Regent of South Bengkulu, Rifai Tajuddin, as well as a staff member from the Ministry of Housing’s work unit.
