DPD Appreciates Yogyakarta's Electrical Infrastructure Readiness, Hilmy Muhammad: Supports Community Activities
PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Yogyakarta received a working visit from Member of Committee II of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Dr H. Hilmy Muhammad, to conduct an inventory of oversight materials regarding the implementation of Law Number 30 of 2009 on Electricity and its amendments. The meeting, held at the PLN UID Yogyakarta office on Wednesday (29/7/2026), served as a strategic forum to discuss equitable access to electricity, the reliability of the electricity system, and the development of clean energy in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
In its presentation, PLN UID Yogyakarta stated that the electricity system in Yogyakarta is in a reliable condition, with a capacity of 1,230 MVA and a power reserve reaching 579 MW, or approximately 47 percent of peak load. As of June 2026, the ratio of villages electrified by PLN has reached 100 percent. PLN is also continuing to strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem through 33 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) spread across 24 locations, supported by 732 home charging stations (HCS) and 73 non-PLN SPKLU.
Hilmy appreciated the readiness of PLN’s electricity infrastructure in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which is considered capable of supporting community activities, economic growth, and the tourism sector.
“We appreciate the openness of PLN UID Yogyakarta in conveying the electricity conditions in Yogyakarta. From the presentation we received, all villages have been electrified and the power supply is very adequate to support economic growth and the tourism sector. The SPKLU facilities we reviewed are also very representative and worthy of being an example for other regions in supporting the electric vehicle ecosystem,” said Hilmy.
General Manager of PLN UID Yogyakarta, Deri Prasetio Utomo, said the working visit was an important momentum to strengthen synergy between PLN and DPD RI in supporting the development of the electricity sector.
“We appreciate the working visit of Mr Hilmy Muhammad together with Committee II of DPD RI. This visit is a momentum to strengthen synergy in supporting energy security, equitable access to electricity, and the development of sustainable energy. The support of DPD RI is an encouragement for PLN to continue delivering reliable, quality electricity services that provide the greatest possible benefit to the community,” said Deri.
He added that PLN UID Yogyakarta is committed to continuing to build a smart, resilient, and green electricity system through improving network reliability, equitable access to electricity, and the development of infrastructure supporting the energy transition. Various inputs obtained during the working visit will become an important part of strengthening electricity services while supporting national policies in the energy sector.
The working visit of Committee II of DPD RI to PLN UID Yogyakarta is expected to further strengthen collaboration between the government, the legislature, and PLN in realising a reliable, equitable, and sustainable electricity system, while supporting the achievement of national energy security and regional development.
