DPD Appreciates Prabowo's Diplomacy in Driving Market Access to 290 Million Consumers

he Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Sultan B. Najamudin, expressed his appreciation for the speech and diplomatic achievements of President Prabowo Subianto at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia.

“For Indonesia, Russia is one of the world powers that is highly respected because of the sincerity of its leaders in forging friendships. Since the beginning, the Indonesian people have always placed their trust in Russia’s good intentions in helping Indonesia,” Sultan stated in Jakarta on Friday.

Sultan believes that Prabowo’s speech strengthens the consistency of Indonesia’s diplomatic stance towards various countries, particularly Russia, while simultaneously encouraging economic and business cooperation through Free Trade Agreement (FTA) schemes.

According to him, Russia possesses technological capabilities that can support natural resource downstreaming programmes in various regions across Indonesia.

“We appreciate President Prabowo for providing opportunities for Russia to assist Indonesia in completing several crucial agendas, such as the development of fertiliser technology, nuclear energy, and oil and gas block exploration in Indonesia,” he said.

He noted that free trade schemes could also encourage more business actors to invest in Indonesia.

“This can directly provide an economic impact and increase labour absorption in the relevant regions,” he added.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that a Free Trade Agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) would provide market access for Eurasian producers to more than 290 million Indonesian consumers.

“This agreement represents a South-South trade architecture. This agreement opens five markets for Indonesian producers and provides Eurasian producers access to more than 290 million Indonesian consumers,” Prabowo said during his speech at the 11th EEF in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (3/9) local time.
