Dozens of West Jakarta government vehicles fail emissions test
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 14 operational service vehicles (KDO) of the West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) failed the emissions test conducted by the Environmental Office (LH) at Rawa Buaya Terminal, Cengkareng, on Monday.
“So, out of the total 61 vehicles that underwent the emissions test, 14 of them were found to have failed,” said the Head of the West Jakarta Environmental Office, Achmad Hariadi, when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.
In the emissions test, which was also participated in by public transport vehicles, the Environmental Office tested four-wheeled vehicles using petrol and diesel fuel, as well as two-wheeled vehicles.
The results showed that nine four-wheeled diesel vehicles that participated in the emissions test were declared to have passed. Meanwhile, for the emissions test of 34 four-wheeled petrol vehicles, 13 were declared to have failed, with the remaining 21 vehicles passing the emissions test.
For two-wheeled vehicles, out of 18 that participated in the emissions test, only one was declared to have failed.
“Vehicles that failed the emissions test are advised to undergo repairs and maintenance to reduce the exhaust gas emissions produced,” he explained.
His side hopes that this activity will increasingly raise public awareness to maintain their vehicles.
“So that the emissions produced by vehicles can meet the threshold limits set,” he stated.
