Dozens of Kiosks at Bandung's Soreang Market Collapse: One Dead, Three Injured
Approximately thirteen kiosks at Pasar Soreang, Bandung Regency, suddenly collapsed and struck several people on Monday, 16 March, at midday. One person died in the incident.
Bandung Police Resort Commander Kombes Pol Aldi Subartono said thirteen kiosks collapsed at Pasar Soreang. “We received information from residents that Pasar Bersih Soreang had collapsed and there were casualties. We immediately went to the scene. It’s true that several kiosks collapsed. Approximately thirteen collapsed. The roof collapsed or part of it – the edge collapsed,” Aldi said when contacted by journalists.
Aldi stated that in the incident, three people were injured and one was reported dead. “Initial information indicates four victims: three were taken to hospital, one died,” he said.
Aldi could not yet explain the cause of the collapse of the thirteen kiosks at Pasar Soreang. His office is currently assisting in the evacuation process and clearing debris. However, his team will conduct an investigation into the collapse of the kiosks.
“Bandung Police Resort’s Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating this incident because there was a fatality. We have also already requested support from the West Java Regional Police today to back us up and ensure scientific investigation. We will see how it develops,” he said.
