A tragic humanitarian catastrophe unfolded following a combined military assault by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The Shajareye Tayabeh primary school for girls in Minab, Hormozgan Province, was completely destroyed in a joint air strike, killing at least 57 schoolgirls.

Mohammad Radmehr, Governor of Minab, confirmed to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) that the attack occurred in broad daylight. In addition to the dozens of fatalities, 60 students were injured, whilst 53 students remained reported missing beneath the building’s rubble.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the action and posted photographs of the destroyed school on social media. “Dozens of innocent children have been murdered at this site alone. These crimes against the Iranian people will not go unanswered,” Araghchi stated, according to IRNA.
